When getting a yorkie puppy it can be exciting and fun, but there are many dangers in a home that can hurt your puppy.
Remember these are small toy dogs and they can be fragile.

Here are some suggestions that may help to prepare you:
1. Puppy Proof Your Home
Before Letting your puppy run all around make sure the area is safe,
Yorkies are very curious by nature and they will run around your home very fast.
They will chew on everything in sight and within their reach.
It is important that you remove any potentially hazardous items from all areas of your home where your
puppy will spend most of his/her time.
Keep a close eye on your puppy, beads, seeds, rocks, and small round items are play toys to yorkies.
Always tape loose electrical cords to baseboards and walls.
Store household chemicals and any other hazardous items out of your puppy’s reach.
Remove plants, rugs, clothing, etc...anything you don't want to be destroyed or eaten.
Remove or repair “lose” furniture; anything that can fall on your puppy.
Stop puppy’s access to the back of televisions, computer desks, cabinets, wall units, furniture and so on.
Install gates or set up a playpen to keep puppy in a certain area.
When you think you have completely puppy-proofed your home, lie on the floor and look around once more from a puppy’s-eye-view to be sure. You should also look for items that could fall off of a table or countertops. Items they can reach if they climb onto a sofa or chair. And don’t forget the things you have stashed under the bed?
